Arizona Coyotes to Relocate to Salt Lake City

NHL Board of Governors Approves Move

New Team to Begin Play in 2024-25 Season

The Arizona Coyotes are officially on the move to Salt Lake City, Utah. The NHL Board of Governors voted unanimously to approve the relocation on April 18, 2024. The team will begin play in Salt Lake City in the 2024-25 season.

The Coyotes have been searching for a new home for several years, and the NHL had grown impatient with the team's inability to find a long-term solution in Arizona. The team was sold to Ryan Smith, owner of the Utah Jazz NBA team, who plans to relocate the Coyotes to Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

The Coyotes' move to Salt Lake City will mark the first time an NHL team has relocated since the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg in 2011. It will also be the first time an NHL team has relocated to the Western United States since the San Jose Sharks moved from Minnesota in 1991.

The Coyotes' relocation has been met with mixed reactions. Some fans are excited about the team's move to a new city, while others are disappointed that the team is leaving Arizona. However, the NHL is confident that the move will be a success, and that the Coyotes will be a successful team in Salt Lake City.

The Coyotes will begin play in Salt Lake City in the 2024-25 season. The team's new name and logo have not yet been announced.
